Got a job offer in the Virgin Isalnds....

I am retiring from General Motors this week and have been invited to the Virgin Islands to check out a job in restoring and maintaining yachts down there. It will be mostly fiberglass, woodworking and various other jobs related to the upkeep, maintenance and restoration of sailboats and some motor yachts/boats. My wife and I will be going down their in a couple of weeks to spend some time down their checking out the cost of living, and places to live. I hope everything works out. I have never been their before but We both love Sailing and Scuba Diving, and maybe I can find my dream boat down their as well. Later.

Congratulations on the retirement and the opportunity. I hope it works out. It's nice to see a post like this on a Monday morning before the grind starts. There's hope! Congrats again!!

Congratulations.

I assume you are coming to the USVI and not the BVI. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions relating to living on St Thomas in the USVI.

You will love the Virgins. Which island will the job be on? You will definitely want to get a boat as soon as you can because with a boat you will be able to cruise the rest of the islands on the weekends and avoid "island fever". My wife and I lived on St Thomas in the mid 70s.
