BenthosCritter is on a distinguished road
I think you have to be a parent to understand the love you have for your child. Would I let mine sail around the world at Sixteen? No, sixteen is simply not mature enough and it could very well be condoning his death. Eighteen years of age is only 2 years away and what is the difference?...bragging rights? Is that what this is all about?

Like I said, I support the kid and encourage him...

I am not from here, as you know...our kids don't dress like that...sorry for my judging on the clothes...I still hope him best...

That is exactly what I say..but we don't know the backgrounds...we don't know why...

one thing though...I support faster and stronger this kid, than the Barnes Idiot, the Larry the Cable Guy tin cat idiot, the Flicka Failure girl, and the king of idiots the 1000 day masturbaton A**hole.....

Those were all over with web pages and all kinds of crap before even getting a boat...

The kid seems collected and seems to have a decent plan...go for it.

The kid seems mature and appears to have a pretty realistic outlook.
I hope he makes it.
Beats the hell out of a lot of life choices we hear about these days.

He'll be a man after it's over.

Giu...you said..." I encourage the kid...at least he has an objective..a rare thing amongst the youth today....especially in the US"

I disagree with your assessment of our youth. Have you not seen the "Jackass" movies?

He seems very level headed... unlike the guy interviewing him who comes accross as a first class xxx. Even if he doesn't make it, i'll bet he gets a lot farther than the flicka chick. I say fair winds and following seas to him... He will learn a lot.

I personally feel that irregardless of age solo long distance trips are patently in violation of international law and simply publicity stunts.

Sanctioned solo long distance/circumnavigational racing is even worse and one reason I totally disrespect those organizations that push them.

Just my opinion. Blast away, it will not change my mind.

I knew there was somthing fishy about you...

After watching the Video...I put more faith in the kid making it then the interviewer surviving a new York subway...what a jerk attitude.

Because they can not maintain even a close proximity to a legal watch and are therefore in violation of international maritime law, and it's just irresponsible and not safe. Not a model of good seamanship that I for one would want to propagate.
