So what does FOG mean to you???

So what does FOG mean to you??? I was thinking about it this weekend as we had a lot of the gray stuff. We, my wife and I, were commenting on how much we actually enjoy the fog.

We really enkoy the peaceful, surreal and artistic feeling of fog and it makes us feel at home. Maine in the fog is one of the most beautiful and serene feelings we get while on the water..

I know many will have differing views but that's my take..

I enjoyed some of our "gray stuff" Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, and again today.

Friday, was a bit thick to say the least, but yesterday and today were wonderful to spend at anchor while cooking, playing games, eating, and sipping.

We'd interrupt all that relaxing for a little sailing when the fog would lift long enough for us to see a few miles (rather than a few hundred feet!)

I'm with you Halekai, it's beautiful and it helps keeps the throngs away!

Foggy Maine sounds knid of fun the you put it. Fog in Galveston Bay or the ICW scares the you know what out of me. No Radar . . . no fog for me. I do love it otherwise. You're right about the peacfulness.

It means that most of the rules of the road no longer apply, only Rule 19. Everyone has to look and listen real hard, and if in any doubt, stop or slow to bare steerage and navigate with caution til the danger is past.

In a more poetic sense, though, it's what creeps in on little cat's feet.

Or what confuses you during war..

It looks real pretty from the vantage point of a safe anchorage. Underway it gets old, real old, real fast. Keeping a good lookout can be exhausting.

Not to worry Still, I was thinking Fear-Of-Grounding.

My one experience, while underway, with persistent fog was not something I care to repeat.

Love it, if I'm not moving.
