Cut off from the land that bore us, betrayed by the land we find, where the brightest have gone before us and the dullest remain behind, .......but stand to your glasses, steady,.......tis all we have left to prize, raise a cup to the dead already, hurrah for the next that dies

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I feel for the guy. On another note, he's living proof for why I have run before the storm in both of the Force 10 storms that I've weathered over my sailing years - my fear in both storms was that if we tried to hove to, we would go beam to the sea and flounder.

The yacht looks like a Spacesailer 24 & the chopper has the Westpac symbol on the side so it looks like its off the Australian coast somewhere.

Looks like the guy drifted in to an area of breaking waves. Reminds me of a video of the guy sailing under a San Francisco bridge where the same thing happened. Only this time there were no surfers to come to the rescue.

Good lession to be learned. On anything in the water, never get sideways to a wave...I learned that years ago in surfing.

I remember seeing this video on TV a few years ago and if memory serves me correctly, it took place in Australia. Pretty dramatic footage. Thanks for posting PDP
