Those of you not actually cruising, how many miles per year do ya put on the boat?

Let's out the armchair sailors...................., not.

I bought "Oh Joy" in Sept of 2007 and have logged approx 1,200miles on her since, 200 of that in four separate gales/storms. Not bad for a twenty dollar boat eh?

I'll play.......

Weekend Sailors and occasional weekday sailors, we average 50 miles a weekend, with roughly 25 weekends. So, ball park, 1200 to 1300 miles a season. Those miles include roughly 40 hour on the motor to and from the mooring.

That's a fun question Charlie:

25 daysails @ 20 miles = 500 miles
2 "short" cruises & 100 miles = 200 miles
3 "long" cruises & 200 miles = 600 miles

Annual total about 1300 miles

Approximate annual cost: $4,500

Annual $ per mile: $3.46

Interestingly, the four of us spent 5 vacation days on the boat last week. Total Cost: $300
Cost per day: $60
Cost per person per day: $15

Do miles on the trailer count?
If not, you guys are way out of my league.
I am just not an armchair sailor - I sit in the boat (yeah, usually in the driveway) and dream of sailing it far away. I am working toward sailing more and further by making improvements to the boat and trying to keep the kids interested. One of the things that keeps my miles low is that I do play taxi driver on the water. I will gladly take them to an interesting looking spot and let them look for shells/crabs/treasure/mermaids/SpongeBob. I stop at places of interest around the shore as well as on the water. I rarely get out for more than a few hours at a time. The kids are getting old enough where that will change. It will be a mixed blessing, though; they won't all keep coming (my wife never does and likely never will).

19879 to 1991 we averaged about 10,000/year 1991 to 2001 we swallowed the anchor and only averaged 2,000/year then in 2001 to 2006 we retired and averaged about 4,000 to 5,000 /year. Last year we barely used the boat as I had a total knee replacement of my right knee. This year we hope to go to Maine from CT and then back down to the Bahamas for the winter so maybe 4,000 miles.

We use Paloma for a beach house much of the summer time (when it's 100 degrees and humid) and mostly go on long sails of 250-1300 miles each we we do sail, so about 1800 miles a year and this year 200 of it in a Force 10 storm

Hello,

I primarily day sail - with each sail being 10-15 miles. I also take one week sail, maybe we do 100-150 miles., and a few weekend sails of 25-50 miles. So I probably do about 500 miles a year, definaitely less than 1000.
