What is everyone doing this 4th

I thought I would poll everyone to check in to see what everyone is doing this weekend.
Me - Boat de-naming ceromony = big party at the dock.
Lining up all the Caribbean rums I sneaked in for a rum tasting. Also making sure Neptune and the Wind Gods get their fair share for I haven't been in their favor of late.
Watching the Miami fireworks from my dock.. Front row center seat.

Spent about $200 on fireworks for the kid(money up in smoke). we have fun and do it every year... practicing safety i might add. but still a family moment.

We've been spending the week on vacation cruising Lake Champlain. The wind has sucked and it's rained a bunch. We have a reserved mooring in Burlington Harbor (VT) for the night of the 3rd to watch the fireworks, but they are predicting rain so it might be a wash.. we'll see. No matter what, though, a week spent on our "Pelican" is better than most anything else.

You know I had a choice....

On the one hand friends of ours have a honky tonk band and are doing a 4th of Jooleye party gig. Good venue, cheap beer, lots of great music and guest musos. (He's a septic btw).

Then again I could get an abscess on a tooth and having gone to the dentist to have it pulled be thenceforth condemned to spend the evening doing my best impersonation of a complete sook. (not to mention the misery of contemplating the $5,000 it's going to cost to have a new tooth implanted when the infection has settled down.)

Go on, I dare you, guess which way I'm going.......

fooking 'ell......

Oh well, my lot were on the other side anyway so what have we got to celebrate...

Spend Friday night with Joel and Jaymie, then sail back down with them on Saturday and spend the weekend in Oriental.

BTW Mel, didn't know you had taken Chuck's old dock.

We're going to slip the boats together and have the family down to BBQ and watch the fireworks in the bay, Port of SD has four barges placed off Shelter Island, Harbor Island, the Embarcadero and Seaport Village, all four will go at the same time with music broadcasted from FM radio station.

Chrissy and I are leaving the dock this morning and returning either Sunday or Monday. We have a decent weather window today, but a squally looking weekend ahead. Nevertheless, time on the boat and water under the keel is long overdue. Probably going to watch fireworks on the hook around St. Mary's.
I hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th.

Spending a long weekend on the boat. Sunday is our 40th wedding anniversary and I'm surprising my wife with a trip to Istanbul and the Greek Islands. That's what I call building up a lot of credit for future purchases of boat things!
