Was up @ WM and saw this recall on Bosun chairs. The notice said there could be a failure at the D ring which could cause injury...........Duh, could also mess up your shirt when you hit the deck

Are you implying that landing in s*&% would be the worst of your problems? (g) Either way, I suppose the falling is the easy part.

The falling generally doesn't hurt much...it's the sudden stop at the bottom that really hurts.

Load test it before use. Get another adult (or two) to sit on it when it's about 1 ft from the ground. If it passes that test, it should not fail when aloft.

SD, to follow-up on yesterday, uh, you can go up the mast, I'll work the winch, no need for you to get a work out, you can just enjoy the ride!

By the way, we always made it SOP to not trust the D-ring, or the shackle on the halyard, plus, I always go up with a second line attached to a harness as a backup.
