It is my understanding that the Trump 27, which was designed by Aborn Smith, was taken over by Kells Yachts and was built for a number of years as the Kells 28 "Outrider". I'm not sure to what extent there were changes made in the design. I know that there were at least two versions of the K28, and there were small changes from boat to boat. The Kells 28 was offered in a factory built version and a kit version. I had a 1977 Kells 28 (the first varient) that I kept for 22 yrs.+. There are a few of these that appear on the market from time to time. I don't believe either Trump or Kells are in business now (for a long time now). My boat had an outboard rudder, somewhat wide stern (for its day), internal ballast fin keel, keel stepped mast, 10 hp? single cylinder Yanmar, generous bullwarks, teak covered seats. The boat was rugged, but some of the details weren't the best. Still it worked for me for a long time. (My boat was factory built).
