Launch and Slip for overnight stay near Thomas point lighthouse.

Just relised this should probably be in the Ches bay sections, so feel free to move it mods.

Anyway, I'm trailering my boat to Annapolis for a race on the 1st of August and wanted to check out some launch ramps with enough depth to get my boat in the water with out plowing the bottom. Sandy point looks like a real contender after speaking with an employee. He's going to check the depth tomorrow for me. Only downside is the startline is about 9 miles from there, so I wanted to try and find a slip closer to the lighthouse. Or just a place to tie up if possible.

I'm not real familiar with the area so please forgive my ignorance if I don't know what areas you're refering to.

Thanks for any suggestions!

ZZ,

I'm not familiar with too many launch ramps in that area. Sandy Point might be a good bet if they confirm depth.

Another possibility might be some of the marinas over on the Rhode River, which is about 5-6 nm south of Thomas Point Light. Two that come to mind are Cadle Creek and Casa Rio, both have ramps into Cadle Creek (a tributary to the Rhode River). You'd have to call ahead to see if they can handle your boat.

Cadle Creek Marina
(launch ramp not visible in aerial photo, but it's there and I've used it)

CASA RIO

To spend the night, you could anchor in Rhode River easily. Or you could sail up to Annapolis and grab a mooring. The latter option might be more fun, since Annapolis is the departure base for G-Cup, so there's a lot of pre-race excitement/energy that's fun to plug into.

Good luck with the race! As a 5-race veteran, I can attest that it's a great time!

I dont know for sure about any of these, but here are some I found. You might ask the guys a J World in Annapolis?

Or look here: ActiveCaptain - On The Water When you find the South River, click on item 39 & 40, says they are boat ramps??? 35 also says its a ramp but at a marina.

And some direct numbers...

Ferry Point Marina at the mouth of Mill and Dividing creeks (410-544-6368).
Farther south at the South River, you can launch from Oak Grove Marina (410-266-6696),
Pier Seven Marina (410-956-2288) and Turkey Point Marina (410-798-1369).
