Full Moon Night Sailing Tonight...(we hope)

Jayme and i are headed to Oriental in hopes of getting out on the Neuse River tonight. The forecast looks ok but not great... hopefully it will be clear enough for the moon to shine through. As long as it's not raining then we will go out. (I'm celebrating my 35th today. )

In other news... I caught up with JackyD over the 4th and we took At Last out for an awesome sail. We had a great time and took several photos which i will (believe it or not) post this weekend. Also caught up with John after our sail up to New Bern for the festivities there... we were docked right next to Aria which was cool. We tried to feed him dinner but he was content just hanging out with us... something about just eating a truckload of pizza. We also met Chuck5499 who was one dock over. Great guy with good advice. Thanks again Chuck and John for letting me check out your radar and internet before we departed... we probably should have stayed put because we DID get caught in that second cell. It wasn't too nasty but there was plenty of lightning!!! We dropped sails, motored over to Goose Creek, dropped anchor behind Coopers Point and sat it out with our fingers crossed. Luck was on our side because 45 minutes later we were underway again.
Had hoped to catch up with Andy and his kids but it was not to be because of his wife being in the hospital. Glad things are going better Andy and we'll catch up with each other at some point this year!

ok... time to hit the road... hope everyone has a great weekend!

Thanks! I am still hoping to get down there. We ended up at the Pamlico last weekend and have another Pamlico trip scheduled next.

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Here's a handlefull of pictures from last night. Winds were about 7-10mph so it was a relaxing sail. We took the Bella dawg out with us since it was reletively calm and there was no heat from the sun. The photo's are kinda blurry but you get the idea. We stayed out untill about 1:30 or so and wanted to stay out longer but started getting tired so we figured we better come in.
Thanks again for the birthday wishes... i don't think it could've been anymore laid back and perfect.

Headed out under the Oriental bridge towards the Neuse River...

PFD's!!!!!!!!!!!!! We always wear them...

Raised the sails in the channel:

Bella stayed in the cockpit the whole time watching the water go by...

Yours truely...

Oriental Channel Marker #1 under the moonlight...

Laid back sailing...

A very red Compass...

Wing on Wing... kinda...

cockpit lights...

Sweet, kind of reminds me of the last time I was surfing in the mooonlight, something surreal about seeing someone's sillouette while the are in the barrel of a wave.

Speaking of night sailing I found it to be excellent especially hearing the sound of Dolphins in the ater belowing.
