After almost 10 months on the hard Eagle Knight splashed and motered to her new slip without a hickup.
Some work is left to be done befor our first sail however..as the riggers made a few mistakes so sails are not hanked on yet. And there is a few other odes and ends to tidey up, but before summers end she will once again slice a wake in her new home waters of Puget sound.
After parking her in her slip and my wife and middle daughter leaving for soccer practice I setteled down to a few brews as I waited for the fridge to come down to temperature the warm afternoon sun warmed my face. I almost felt like spending the night but alas..another soccer tourniment starts early tomorrow in Gig Harbor 60 miles away.
So she sleeps alone tonight in her new birth...patient... wavelets kissing her hull...waiting... yet more waiting.
After being out for three weeks up north, imagine our surprise when we pulled into our slip Friday night about an hour after dark to find a new "big boat" parked across from us. We were too tired to unpack, so spent another night on the boat and I thought we might see you Saturday. Anyway, Saturday gave me another chance to take a look at Still's boat. Boy, what a great boat to cruise with the family. Looks like plenty of space for everyone and no one is peeing in a bucket like our first family boat. I almost took a picture of "Nikko" and "Eagle Knight" tied up side by side, both with their candy striped head sails furled up.
LOL...Howdy Ray...Ya...the only sail I put up..the head sail I did by myself and didnt have anyone or wind to tail the sheet...hence the candy stripe and lousy furl job...Didn't have a hose to give her a bath before you saw her either...
Now just remember to be a good boy and honor your promise not to tattle on my bright work...
There are 2 blocks at the end of each davit one set for the dingy lift and another for the swim/boarding platform..Each set of lines is ran through the davits to staylocks. It takes two people ( adults for the dingy ) to raise or lower each one repectivly...I plan on electrifying the operation with a couple of DC winches mounted below deck in the lazoret making it a child's job.
Interesting...I used to have an Irwin44 with the internal drop down transom and it was controlled by a single electric winch running two cable pulleys. That way, the cables went up and down together with one switch. Just a thought for the future for ya!
Yes Cam...Thats the system I meant exactly...The reason for the two winches is one for each operation..ie..Dingy lift or swim platform..one button for each. ..House bank is under aft cabin bunk, easy close connection.
