Anybody at Block Island today?

Hey all. Just wondering if anyone is at Block island today? I sailed with a buddy yesterday. We are waiting out the rain then will head for Martha's Vinyard.

Anybody in the area?

No, working today, stuck in Warwick. Where are you on Block - anchored, moored, docked? It should be nice the rest of the week. Forecast for RI Sound:

I just came back from Edgartown. Watch out for the strong 6 knot currents in there if you're heading into the harbor. The breach looks like it's a mile long on the South Beach side. Great photos in the mens bathroom at EYC.

I'm moored just inside the entrance to New Harbor. I picked up a private mooring, I know that's bad but it was blowing 30 knots when I got here and I was panicking, I picked up the first mooring saw. I'm waiting for a 'rental' mooring to open up. And if the owner of this one comes back I'll go anchor on the edge. But in the mean time no one has bothered me.

I walked into town last night and had a great dinner and bought ICE, it was a long walk with 3 blocks of ice in hand.

My friend left for Martha's Vineyard yesterday with it blowing 20-30 and 8' seas, I told him he was crazy and what's his hurry? He had to turn back, he couldn't make any headway into the seas and wind. He's going to try it again today but now it's the opposite problem, not much wind at all.

I think I'm going to stay put for a few days and get to know the island!

currently sitting oyster bay and headed to bock in a week or so but by then you will be gone - then i may go over the the elizabeth isl for a week or two

It is a long walk with 3 blocks of ice. You can buy ice at the basin, can't you? My wife wanted to prove me a wimp when I said carrying a 30-pack of beer back to the boat from town was going to be difficult and we should just grab a cab. She carried it the entire way and to this day reminds me of it.

We'll be in MV tomorrow. Anchored in Vineyard Haven by the tanks. Look for the Barking Dog (the boat, not the pet).

BS, when are you leaving, I may be at Block on Sunday, plans are still up in the air though.
