Chesapeake Bay sailors

Anyone interested in Chesapeake Bay sailing, especially those who were members of Sailnet's Chesapeake Bay list before it shut down, is welcome to join other former listers on the backup Google list. To find it, go to Google Groups and enter the search term "Chesapeake Bay Sailors"

Just Curious...

How is the Google group different/better than the Chesapeake Bay Forum here on Sailnet?

All I really know is that a lot of members of the sailnet Chesapeake Bay list (in fact all of them as far as I know) who received messages by email were left high and dry when the list suddenly shut down with no explanation - at least none that we received. As far as we knew, sailnet had gone belly-up. The Google list was set up several years ago when sailnet was having trouble, as a backup in case of just such an eventuality. I'm not trying to woo people away from this forum, just letting people who didn't sign up for the Google list know that it's there.

For people like me who often have skinny pipes for connection to the Internet, a simple e-mail list is much preferable to a web site.
