Olympics

Anyone planning on tuning in for any of the Olympic sailing events?

I was a bit disappointed (not surprised) to see that there is no tv coverage, only a few broadcasts on the internet late at night.

If anyone knows where I might log in to see highlights at a reasonable hour I would appreciate it.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Definitely lame... even archery, badminton, table tennis and trampoline are getting TV coverage. Sailing is one of the biggest sports at the event, and there is ZERO TV coverage...

Probably one of those cable networks have the exclusive rights to it. Something like ESPN or some other.

Hmm, maybe the Chinese censors don't want all of us to see the tons of algae and lack of decent winds (though I hope neither of these issues will plague the events).

Maybe they figured between the green goo and the smog, no one will be able to see the events anyway.... I think the large star in their flag should have been an asterisk to denote......Enter and breathe at your own risk! And the flags red backround should symbolize what the insides of your lungs will look like after a week in Beijing instead of revolution.

You have to see Olympic badminton in person to appreciate it. 45+ hits in less than 30 seconds. It's pretty amazing even if it's not really popular.

NBC's website does have a fair bit of info about the sailing competition, including videos. I found some videos here, for example.

During the opening ceremonies, I was struck by how many flag-bearers were sailors. It's pretty disappointing that the main TV network won't be airing much sailing.

Absolutely not. I normally don't pay much heed to the Summer Olympics, anyway. The Admiral and I are more Winter Olympics fans. But either way: I have so many problems with China's government's behaviour that I'd boycott the Olympics regardless.
