SSCA offline?

Folks,
I found a couple of days ago that the Seven Seas Cruising Association website is offline, in fact no domain name server is even registering it. A few minutes ago I even tried to call them, and got a message that the phone had been disconnected or unavailable or something (I forget the details, such as whether it was permanent or temporary).

Does anybody know what is up? If I go to the forum server's IP address (extracted from my SSCA forum bookmark) there is a note saying that the website will be back up today, but that doesn't explain the telephone problem.

I tried calling them last night and today. The answering machine message said that their hours are 9-5 Mon-Fri. So I was calling when the office was closed.
Lets wait until after 9AM Monday before hitting the panic button.

Not quite. There very much still IS a valid unexpired domain name, it looks like this is just a DNS or hosting glitch. Also bear in mind that last week a major security flaw in the DNS system was exposed, and last time I heard a huge number of hosts (ISPs, not sites) still had not corrected the problem, so we can expect any number of major DNS failures in coming weeks while the bad guys exploit this and bad patching attempts take more sites offline.

I talked to the SSCA office this morning. They are hoping the Web site will be back up by this evening. They are also aware of the name server problem, which seems to have been fixed.

They're up again, but if you've previously bookmarked the URL for the Board you won't reach it.

But....they're slow (though faster than SailNet) :-(

Damn!

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
