Sites that are of a Great Interest or Helpfull to Us.

I felt we needed a thread that will help us find the data that we desire or wish for here.

Maritime Safety Information This site is great in that you can for naught, down load some of your favorite pubs and reduce the weight of carrying them to & fro. Such as Bowditch, Radio Aids pub 117, Pilot charts, Int. Signals Pub 102, Dist tween ports and so forth. (look under Publications) And explore some more on this site.

New and Used Yachts for Sale - YachtWorld.com An on line wish book for those of you who are looking for another boat.

Now I know that some of you have a site or two that you visit because it is of interest to the yachting community. so Please post them.

Maybe the Moderators could anchor/pin this thread near the front.

local Notice to mariners

https://www.navcen.uscg.gov/lnm/default.htm
This is the site where in the USA & terrories you can find your Local Notice to Mariners. That is necessary for correcting the charts that you are using.

You do keep your charts up to date right??

If you do this, please print out the important bits...just in case you need to refer to them and your computer has gone south...

As for useful sites:

Here's a good one: The National Hurricane Center.

It is hurricane season, and important to those in the Gulf Coast, East Coast, Caribbean, and Mexican waters...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I've always liked this site. Loaded with useful links to information and great reading of trip reports and logs. Downside is that some of the links are no longer operating. Can find most anything here including sailnet.

I like this for looking up boats/owners by U.S. Documented Names.

I use this for checking currents when planning a trip. I think it is only for the West Coast though.
