Well I got a call from my girl today they had a couple nice calm day's at sea while heading back towards the east coast to the Bahamas. She was oblivious of Hanna. I for the life of me couldn't concern her with it all before her trip, especially with all we went through with fay. She asked, and all I could do was bite my tongue and tell not to ask...

She was talking about how she was sunburnt and how the rest of the fam wished I was stuck on that tin can with them. How stoked am I to be here to wax my surboard getting ready for the swell of the season from Hanna.

I imagine we are going to have some awesome surf for at least a week without all the stormy weather here in Jax. I guess now is a good time to see what this way comes from the Northwest to push her out to sea...

Well from the look of these forecast models she won;t be having nothing to worry about, well not until at least she gets home and wonders why I am not at work next Tuesday~!!

Look's like it will then be igh time for my vacation in a nice teal glittering room:

I don't envy you guys sometimes...the remnants of Fay are sprinkling us with a light rain tonight, and maybe a T-storm tomorrow, and you've got a hurricane loaded and one in the clip, plus two political conventions.

Good luck to everyone from west Florida to east Texas.

Given the long lead time, is anyone in the NOLA area considering boarding up the house and sailing to mid-Mexico?

The good news from this morning's forecast discussion is that Gustav weakened more than expected crossing Cuba, and conditions are not favorable for any significant restrenghtening. It does however remain a major hurricane, with a very wide path. And while one can hope that some extraordinary natural event might weaken it further, it is unlikely.

Fortunately, they aren't waiting for the shoe to drop this time before taking action, and I'm sure we all hope that kept the damage merely to property, and not the lose of life.

FYI

Conditions at The Polaski Shoal Light Station, just east of the Dry Tortugas.

NDBC - Station PLSF1

Gustav is 140 miles WSW (current position 24.2N 85.0W) of this weather station and the wind is still in the high 40s

Well the girls are on the plane headed back to Jax from Miami. I looked up north to see if there is any systems moving down to push some of these storms back out to sea, and you have to go all the way to Alaska to see any action, and . Oh this is not good...
