It's looking like Gustav isn't going to exceed wind speeds of 100 mph, and be fairly dry.

Full, is the spirit, that thinks not, of falling.
True, is the soul, that hesitates not, to give.

Gustave is making landfall as I post this thread this morning, it is moving at a pretty good clip still forcasters however have it stalling over the next day or so, this forcast is a threat for the low lying area's in MS, LA.

MyFox

Sustained winds are at 110 MPH meaning gusts could be up to 140+ MPH. Florida pan being 3 states away from where the storm is making landfall is experiencing the brunt of the tornado activity based on doppler radar this morning.

There is already a 10 foot water surge @ the industrial canal, the water is 3 foot from breaching the leve, and is expected to rise even further inspite the center of the storm being 85 miles away. There is still a question as to how much the leve wall can hold, inspite of all the upgades made since Katrina.

As of this hour, Gustav is still a catagory 2 hurricane. Speaking of hurricane, Hanna has just strengthened into a Hurricane.

Gustav's eye has just passed overheard here in Lafayette, LA. Winds have changed directions as expected and there will be a load of rain to fall yet.

Just to add: Gustav came ashore as a Cat. 2 and left Lafayette as a Cat. 1.
The Vermillion River rose 5 feet during Gustav. So there will be flooding in other areas.

Hurricanes, hurricanes as far as I see
One after another from troubling sea
Much like hemorrhoids, sore and inflamed
Apprehension and tension, they can be blamed.

Living in Orlando, X marked the spot
Frances and Charley crossed in a trot
Whirling and swirling, they brought their wrath
Scattering the remains of my roof in their path.

After retiring, moving back home I must say
Melbourne felt comfortable, looking for a better day
Then 'long cometh Wilma with galloping hoof
Thumbed up her nose and stole part of my roof.

Two years of complacency, sooo nice I must say
A douche bag of a storm, a prolonged visit by Fay
Never so much water, it rained cats and dogs
We even gave mouth to mouth to wet drowning frogs.

Twenty two inches later and right up to the door
Just like poor Noah, I was shook to my core
So out to the shed, I ran with care
Not a drop was found, my heritage springer was there.

So now Hanna does threaten, our sanity at best
Just like a hurricane, deals a weathering test
Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, oh where will she go
Wallowing without much direction like some drunken ho.

There's something disturbing that I do not like
For right behind Hanna is upstart called Ike
It's like being in a barrel of do-do, it's just my luck
And have something nasty thrown at you, what, DO YOU DUCK?

Having a Colonscopy and Esophagosclop all at the same time
Ranks right up there with hurricanes, none so sublime
Whether it comes from the North or comes from the South
If all the same instrument, leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Stay safe....Bob
