identify this boat

I am going to try and put a picture in or at least a link.
It is titled as a Mariner, but I am not sure that is right. We purchased a used 17ft day sailer. A run of the MIC shows it to have been made by Link Leisure INC out of Michigan. It is a skipper class and the model is Mariner 17. Anyone know anymore? |
Mariner
Have you gotten any more information on this boat? I actually was about to buy a used boat with similar specs however the picture is different. Somehow I only wrote down 11 numbers for the HIN. I too could find no other info on the manufacturer. Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for yours?

It looks a lot like my AMF Sunbird. 16' daysailer can't figure how to get my picture here??? Very similar though:confused:

no more information. We sailed it in the race on Saturday in 13-18 mph winds gusting to 25 and increasing as the day went. It handled well. I paid 1000 for it without the motor.

So you did sail Saturday? Bet it was interesting with the weather the way it was!

Mariner 17 specs
Hello freddyray,
Thanks for the info. I just purchased a Mariner 17 by Link Leisure. It has no centerboard/keel which is why I got a really good deal. I'm new to the sloop style as I only had a Super Snark 11 Dinghy sailboat before. Would you be able to tell me if it has a centerboard or a keel? Also the rough specs on it. My problem right now is that I can not even picture what needs to go in there so I can get someone to fabricate it. A couple of good pictures might actually do the trick. I appreciate any information you can get me. As you have found, there are very few Link Leisure owners out there! Thanks, Joe Porter 5133356044 |
Joe,
It is a swing keel. In the center of the cockpit there is a raised cover that the keel sits in. I am at work and don't have any pics now and the boat is over at the lake about and hour or so away. I would love to talk to you and will call later. We found ours is very stable and held up to all the winds could throw at it that day. |
Boat info
Hey Ray,
Any update on the boat info? If not yet, could you give me an idea on the materials in the keel? (lead, cement, etc...) Thanks man. Joe |
it is still over at the lake. We will probably bring it home in about 10 days.

Mariner 17
Hey Freddy,
It's been a while and I lost your number. It is just about sailing season again and I am going to try to get my boat "sea worthy." If you were able to get some pics of the centerboard/keel that would be awesome! Thanks, Joe Porter 513.335.6044 |
