Cd Take Cover!!

11PM forcast and most models now have Ike hitting right at Corpus Christie as a strong Cat3 and possibly Cat 4 on Saturday night.
time to start prepping the boat and planning evacuation if you are anywhere between Galveston and Brownsville near the water.

I don't think they have a clue where it will end up. Look at the circles (margin of error) around those center points. Also look at the change in track from the Wed prediction to the Thurs; looks like it makes a left turn? It could end up anywhere from the Florida Panhandle to Mexico...

She (It?) has been projected to track further south all day today....either way looks like it's our turn here in Texas. Guess it's time to take down the canvas, double up the lines and put out extra fenders.

I think we are in for it this time, in fact I'd bet on it... Our last big one was Alicia in 83', Ike is a brute.

BUMP! CD are you getting out of the way of this thing? Looks like it may hit 135mph before landfall.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

OK the latest predictions look bit better; yep, it looks like the Texas coast this time. Good time to transport your boat to the west coast CD!

Put your anchor out into the fairway in front of your boat Tx. Set it and then put extra rhode out so if the dock gets floated free of the piles you anchor will keep the boat in the marina. When Katrina hit a fellow N41 owner did this and it was the only thing that saved his boat. I don't know what happened to the dock he was attached to or if the boat was bounced off the piles; but it did survive without major damage.

It's tracking further west than the 2 a.m. models were anticipating... and it's also strengthening.

Thanks for the advice Keel...I hadn't thought of setting an anchor. Hopefully it won't be needed I have 15' pylons for my floating piers and they are predicting 10-12 foot surge, probably a little less as far back from the bay as I am. But better safe than sorry, I'm going down tonight to finish prepping the boat and will set my anchor.

Good luck to all others on the TX coast.
