Steve,
I am so happy to read your boat is most probably OK.
I have read your other posts before (about costs and not regretting it), I liked your choice for a new boat ...
Let us hope for the best outcome, minimal or no damage and many many priceless moments on lagniappe.
P.S.
My 423 still have to earn some money slaving for a charter company, but she will come out of the contract in 2 years.

Just got this in from an aquaintance building a house near Waterford. Pretty much the same info as Steve had earlier. He had heard from his builder:

...just got a call from his house contractor at Waterford harbor- although hard to get a lot of details, apparently the boats stayed put in their docks, and apart from a lot of shredded sails and canvas, seemed to avoid a major disaster.

I will pass along additional info when available.

Doug

From what I read in this morning's media it was bad but not as bad as it might have been ? Hope that is right and you are all pretty much all OK.

Glad to hear everything was ok. Couple of us had to do a little wading ourselves this morning, all the way over in southeastern LA... from what I hear, the surge with Ike was as bad or worse than it was with Gustav.

Farmerville, now there's a town I haven't heard mention of in a long time. I grew up in Ringgold, and then moved to Monroe for a few years before ending up in Natchitoches for a number of years before leaving LA.

Glad it sounds like Lagniappe probably made it through OK.

What a relief! Thanks for all of the supporting posts!

He had to walk about a mile as there was flooding over local roads, and of course couldn't get to the boat. Not sure when we'll get to head back, but it's sure nice to know that we have someplace to go back to.

I'm watching CNN footage of Clear Lake, and in the background are several in-tact docks and sailboats. I have yet to see the expected pile of fiberglass...

That's great news Lagniappe!

Charlie,

My wife and I met in Monroe in college back in '74. Lived there until 85 when we moved to Dallas. Great memories...

I just found a list of marinas and how they faired...

Southeast Texas Marinas Damaged - Houston News Story - KPRC Houston

Many people didn't end up as lucky as it appears that we did, including a marina adjacent to ours. Thank goodness for floating docks!

And here's a video of our marina the night before Ike hit.

YouTube - Hurricane Ike surge fills Waterford Harbor Marina

If it had passed just a few miles to the left of where it did, things would have turned out much differently.

Seabrook

Doesn't look like Seabrook is going to allow people in for 48 hours. If anyone knows anything else about Seabrook Shipyard Marina please post here.

Thanks!

Whoa...not sure about my previous post.

Looking a lot worse than the Sunday reports that I saw.

Nasty looking images...
