Savannah Area Marinas

I may be moving my Islander 37MS to Savannah and am looking for a deep water marina at a reasonable annual slip rates. Does anyone have advice as to where we might find sailor friendly marinas in the area (working on my own boat friendly) We have a 6" draft problem. Can anyone tell me about the sailing around the Savannah area? Thank you for the input

I can't help you at all but wish you welcome to the area. We sail mostly around Beaufort, SC, which isn't far as the crow flies.

With a six-foot draft your arrivals and departures may be somewhat limited, as we have a 9-foot tidal range here and therefore wicked currents. Slip space is pretty reasonable, and you shouldn't have much trouble finding a good home at Thunderbolt, or on the Willington or Skidaway Rivers. Wassau Sound is shallow to the north. Lot's of destinations, however. You'll love sailing to Dafuskie, Hilton Head, and Beaufort. Beaufort would be a great day sail, and they have a fantastic marina that's right downtown. Welcome to the area.

I was in Georgia for three weeks last June, and spent a couple of Saturdays on the beach at Tybee Island. Couldn't help but be jealous of the stiff, constant breeze. Don't know if it's always like that.

Stationed there for a year and a half in the late '80's, it's one of my favorite cities.
