boat weight?
Yes...Sort of...In reality, at rest, a boat displaces an equal weight of water to the weight of the boat. But when you talk about published displacements, that rarely ever actually matches the actual weight except by coincidence. When a designer designed a boat, the boat is designed to a load waterline. This load waterline represents the designer''s best estimate of how the boat will sit with a given loading aboard and the published displacement is the weight or water displaced at that load waterline of immersion. Of course boat''s weight changes as tanks are filled and people come aboard and gear is stored or consumed so that the actual displacement rarely matches the published number.
