wind powered speed record, yes. Sailing? How can it be sailing when there's no cockpit for the celebratory drink afterwards?

I can't see the video at work, but BMWO has neat 'little' 90 footer they built for an upcoming race. Did around 20 knots under a double reefed main during shakedown runs. Its 'real sailing'. Rumors are starting that it might be the fastest tri in the world. I wouldn't doubt it with a 5,000 sq ft main.

Fast, but not early as impressive as the dude who went para sailing (aka flying) in Tropical Storm Fay recently. Now that was fast -

Is it sailing? Not even a question. More akin to waterskiing than anything else.

No Sailboat, not a sailboat speed record.

is Wind Surfing sailing? It's called a Kite board, not a kite boat for a reason.

Now, put a para sail on a boat, and then it's a sailboat speed record.
One of the Gemini's out and about in the world did just that - hasn't beaten the Gemini only record of 18.3kts yet, but it could.
