Another tragedy

This was in the paper this morning. I am too saddened by the story to leave any comment.

Local News | Woman dies in Lake Washington boating wreck | Seattle Times Newspaper

A little different info from another paper

Woman dies as sailboat is rammed

I can attest to the fact that the lakes here are full of rich little xxxx like this. Heck, on Lake Washington even the Argosy tourist boats are a menance - I used to have one motor straight at me and pull a 90 about 20-30' away so the tourists could snap photos of the quaint wittle sailboat

And I am sure you contacted the USCG so they can take action against the Argosy captain's license? Right?

If the area in question had a SEVEN KNOT speed limit, and the powerboat was going fast enough to run up and over the sailboat, it was going faster than seven knots. I'm curious to know if the boat was in a marked anchorage area. Anchor lights are not necessary in a marked anchorage area, so whether the boat had lights on or not would be moot.

In any case, it is pretty clear that the 17-year-old operator of the power boat was clearly going too fast for conditions and clearly at fault. The kid should be charged with vehicular manslaughter.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

A video camera can help with complaints like this one... video tape the behavior and then send the video with a written statement to the local water LEOs...

Poor little xxxx can also do stupid things. I am not sure the socioeconomic class of the driver comes into play in this tragedy.
