Sorry to hear it guys. We sail all year round in the southwest. Probably why our "sun tax" is so high. With the fall comes those high wind Santa Anna days and fire season. Best wind of the year is coming up. Rainy season will start around late November thru February which can bring some nice wind as well. We have been waiting all year to be able to go over 5 knots sustained for any length of time.

LittleWingCA,

I'll agree the best sailing for California is almost here. I can hardly wait 'til the winds in the north side of SF Bay and Carquinez Strait are predictably below 20 knots

Anytime you want more wind than your 5 knots, you're welcome up here.

At 8000' we only have a few good weeks left, although we had 1 1/2 feet of snow in the mountains over the weekend. I'll be out of town for most of the rest of the month, so I'm pulling out this weekend. I just got the boat in August, so I'm really looking forward to ice out next Spring.

Another month

Hello,

Sailing on the Long Island Sound is winding down. The days are shorter and the temperature is way down. The good news is that the wind is much better.

I keep my boat in until early November, so I have another month or so to sail. I was racing (on a friends boat) Sunday - we had 15 kts all day. I also went out this morning (sailed from 10 to noon) and the wind was 12kts from the north. The only other boat I was saw was the Port Jeff - Bridgeport Ferry. I love the good wind and empty water. Too bad it gets too cold to sail much longer.

LittleWingCa, don't tell them about Southern California. It is crowded enough down here already.

The season is just getting started and the weather is in the 80's today.

How was the weekend. We ended up at Beckwith with only 2 other sailboats. I was surpirsed at how empty the docks are looking, but not surprised. This weekend looks sunny and warm and given it's a long weekend we're taking Friday as well and going to enjoy the empty anchorages. Amanda aksed me if I was booked to pull yet, I'll wait until late October if it starts to get colder and then get out. Sseasons too short as it is.

The Blue's are out there, followed soon by the Humps, man oh man, this is the best part of our endless summers

Yes Barry - sailing on LIS is best in Sept/Oct/Nov. Although there were some good days this summer.

I'm hauling out at Capt Cove in Bridgeport mid-Nov - in the meantime some more sailing days - and doing the Gearbuster Regatta from Greenwich to Stratford Shoal on Saturday - on my friend's boat.
