When you're asking people for help, it is generally a good idea to not make them have to do work to find the basic information that yous should have provided in the first place. That's not only common courtesy, it is common sense...
A Rawson 30 isn't the ideal choice for a long passage, especially if it isn't your boat, since it is a bit small for more than two people.
It is small enough to transport via trailer, but hiring a Mexican trucking company seems to be a crapshoot to me.
BTW, how is $600/day ridiculous... since they're working effectively 24 hours a day and he said it would cover him and two crew... so that's less than $10/hour per person... not exactly the big bucks there...

I've already had an offer of $3,800 to sail the boat to Florida. For a lot of people this would be a once in a lifetime experience, using someone else's boat.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Try again:
Is your boat in seaworth condition, meeting USCG inspection requiremenets and ORC offshore safety standards? Recently inspected life raft and EPIRB on board? US flagged so US entry will not be a problem?
And what kind of boat is it? A 1965' 30' pilothouse sloop? VMG maybe 5 knots, and needing to stay out of any serious weather? Offhand, 3600 NM, at five knots I make that to be 720 hours, a full month at sea. Yes, it will be shorter to truck it!
Are you expecting a professional crew who carry their own liability insurnace (gonna cost more to hire them) or will you waive any liability claims against them and carry your own insurance on the vessel?
And do you have any idea what the Canal fees will be, and the airfare down for a minimum of three people, round-trip being required just in case your boat can't be moved and they have to go home?
Do you really expect them to just show up and cast off? As opposed to inspecting the boat, taking a sea trial to shake down the systems, and spending at least 48 hours making sure the boat is ready for the trip? Possibly longer, if it needs anything? Like, a bottom cleaning at least? Fuel been cleaned? Spare filters on board? Engine reliable?
Then again, where are you? If you've not with the boat, who's going to sign off on the loading if you have it trucked?? Who's going to drop the stick, secure the boat, and prep it for trucking?
If you look hard enough, you will find cheap help. Might cost you a boat, though. They might just pass the canal, hang a left, and never be seen again.

What is a 1960 Rawson 30 worth? To me this would be the deciding factor on what to do. If she is a one of a kind boat and my baby then no matter what the cost I would shell it out.
If she is only worth a few grand then sell her to someone and buy another boat. Money ahead.
I personally would ship her to Brownsville and sail her the rest of the way myself with one other person. Money ahead.
There are plenty of pick ups that can haul a 12,000lb boat without any problems.
From the impression I get from your other thread, I would think that the charter company you left her with didn't take care of her. So you might have more unexpected cost once a crew got there to sail her out.
Anyway you look at it its going to cost you a pile of money.

Also, getting something done ASAP generally involves paying a premium for the service...
It would help if you'd answer some of the questions posted about the condition of the boat, whether you'd be available to crew, what specific dates are important, etc...
As CardiacPaul has said...if you can get someone to move it for $3800, go for it... but I seriously doubt that they're insured, bonded, or licensed, as they'd be charging less than $1 per mile to move the boat.
Personally, I can't think of anyone who could move a 30' sailboat 4000 miles, either by sea or land for that kind of money and do it safely and professionally. The canal fees alone are about $1500, as CP points out.. and that doesn't even count the fuel costs... nevermind if your boat has a mechanical problem or failure during the transit. Airfare to PV and back from Florida to most anywhere in the USA is going to be at least $600-800, since you did say you need this done ASAP... have you priced airline tickets recently...
4000 nm on a boat that might do 125 nm on a good day, sailing 24/7...is a minimum of 32 days of sailing... add at least three days for the canal transit. A guy doing it by himself, and charging you $3800, would be getting about $100 a day... or less than $4 an hour... yeah, right...
And that assumes you have perfect winds and no weather delays... YEAH, right...

You know, I don't have available 10's of thousands, as apparently most of you have. My Rawson is in exceptional shape, the most recent survey was April of this year, her diesel has less than 800 hours. I've sailed her in Force 7 winds and seas most of you wouldn't even venture into. I've been on a boat since I was 4 years old, I've been boating and sailing for over 40 years. She's my boat and means a lot to me. I've received a couple of private messages that make a lot of you look like xxxx. There have been a couple of times that I have gotten real help from this site, but most of the time, it's a bunch of guys who get on here and see who can one up the next one on jokes and criticism.

The boat is probably worth 10-15k...doesn't seem like paying 1/3 to 1/2 its value to move it is a very practical investment. They are very seaworthy boats but if you can't do it yourself...it is not money you will every get back.

Sounds like you are more than qualified to move your own boat. Save yourself the money and enjoy the adventure.

That's the most sensible suggestion yet. Connect that to another that suggested trucking it to the Gulf side of Mexico and sail it from there. And only a month off work. That could be a lot of fun. As long as there aren't any more Ike's in the way.
