Hincley Lays Off 49

Hinckley is suffering too.
Hinckley sheds 49 workers at Maine facility
The Hinckley Co. is not immune to the challenges of today’s economic climate. The boatbuilder last week laid off 49 people at its Trenton, Maine, production facility.

in the coming months, i think we're going to be seeing alot of this. we do some work for a custom yacht builder; volvo 70 boats, america's cup boats, they are pretty busy right now. the people that can afford these boats still have plenty of money. i think the boat companies that make mid size power boats and 30-40' sailboats are going to have a tough time in the next year or so.

Maybe I can get a half priced Hunter 27 at their bankruptcy auction, that's how the previous owner bought my current boat It was one of the last 3 made.

Nah, Hunter is a pretty solid and diversified company from what I can gather, I'm sure them, and the other two biggies will be fine. All the rest are fair game though, look at Tartan, they're going down.
