anyone have an opinion about having a AED on board?

A fellow I know at work is an EMT in his spare time as a volunteer. He says these devices are just about idiot proof. Probably worth having aboard when out at sea if you can swing it.

AED''s are a wounderful safegard agaist cardiac events. About 25% of men and 45% of women''s first symptoms of a heart attack is their last. Two companies are leaders in the field, (Philips Medical and Physio Control). In most states you will need a doctors perscription to purchase one. Training is a couple of hours and you will need to update supplies yearly and periodic service checks. If you can afford a couple thousand dollars, you bet, put one on board. Oh yes, train someone else to operate it in case your the one that needs it.
