Schooner Zodiac-pics

Beautiful weather in the PNW yesterday and today. The schooner Zodiac is a local boat and we see her quite often. This morning she was on a run downwind in Eastsound (Orcas Is.) and then turned onto a reach toward Peavine Pass where we live. Beautiful boat, I had to share a couple of pics I took. We had a great sail yesterday in Laurie Anne, went around Blakely Island in sunshine and 10-16 knots of wind (sorry, no pics).

Here's a link to the Zodiac site for more info. (no affiliation)

Pretty boat... at first, when I saw the title of the thread, I was wondering what whackjob turned a zodiac rib into a schooner.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

SD- I think I read about one of those heading out on a solo-circumnavigation a little while ago?

dancamp is on a distinguished road
Notice the Reefed Main sail

When I heard the main mast broke, I thought it was due to having too much sail out. But now, after viewing those pics, I realize that it may be just because it was reefed that the mast broke where it did (10' above deck).
I sailed that day too, with a double reefed main and storm jib. We had some serious southern wind gusts that day (50kts?? is my guess) knocking little boats down into the water on Bellingham bay (close to where their accident occured) and laying down big boats near capsize too with full sails out.
I also heard some hardware broke holding a stay, so who knows what happened. Still being investigated, I think.
