So, you want someone to pay all of the expenses for you to make the documentary, so that you can sell the documentary to PBS. The upside for the boat owner is that they get to put up with you for several months.

I can understand the boat owner not being paid to keep it a documentary, but why would the boat owner have to pay for anything? Just as paying the subject of a documentary would cause it to lose it's documentary status, so should the subject paying for the documentary to be made.

Don't Forget

It will be our tax dollars, that fund PBS, to purchase said documentary after one of us pays to have it made.....Great Plan.
Any guesses who this guy is voting for?

Well, somebody has to pay for it.
If he made the film in Michigan, the state would rebate him 40% of production expenses incurred in Michigan!

The VO 70's now have an 11th crew members whose sole duty is to film and report the race. Maybe you should try to get one of those spots. What you are trying to do won't make good TV material... it has been done before. Lookup "Ice Blink" or "Project Bluesphere." Fact is, cruising is actually pretty boring, and unless there are some exceptional conditions (going it alone, record breaking attempts, disaster/sinking/groundings, 3 kids on a 25' boat) etc it just isn't worth most people's time to watch.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

The format for this will be a combination of narration and stand-up. So mainly VO's will be used. Most of the editing costs are paid for the university I am working at, which (being a professor) creating this film is a HUGE undertaking. From the planning, keeping in contact with my partners, travel costs to and from the location, provisions, and still maintaining to pay the bills of my home I guess I'm not really paying for anything here now then am I.

What's with trolling in this forum?!
