Giulietta, Fred and...Luis...sailing on their own

My wife and my 2 boys sailed my boat for 2 whole days, preparing for the trip next year...

They have progressed a lot, Fred is now fully capable of handlig both sails on his own, and she can finally navigate, and decide a sail plan based on weather and destination...Luis..jus grinds when we ask him to..he can't really understand what he is doing just grinds on command and hand the fenders..

They could, from now on, take the boat anywhere it is needed...I feel relived..

Fred can also raise the main, and lower it, takes a lot of whinching but he does it, and the genoa too...

With her at the helm and him handling the sails, they can sail 100% now..thye both understand the engine and how to operate it, should the wind pipe up or they could not sail..

Next lesson will be MOB, and docking

You don't have to ask me what I think about all members of a crew need to be able to sail the boat. Good on you, Alex.

Like any power plant worker, you have to keep something in your back pocket. In one plant I worked at we had a steam turbine that would start to hunt every now and then. There was one old guy who would make everyone clear the turbine deck, ten minutes later the turbine was rock steady.....old bastard.

Sapper..we call that the "Beaver Hunter story"..

basically a man and his son were beaver hunters for people owning a wooden dam..they wipped out all beavers excpet for one...so they could come back in a year...

Funny thing is...we work as a family..so no one gets expended..
or left behind...

I do however see a lot of potential in Luis...he seesm to have a little "je ne sais quoi" about him that reminds me of me...

Fred is cool colected and calculated...Luis is noisy, fearless and daring...

Both are competitive in their own way..Luis looks a lot after what Fred is doing....and for now..both look at me....this is why I try to lead them at this age by example...

Luis likes to be moving..Fred not so much..funny how the kids come out
