I'm glad I'm not heading south today!
There's been a big low moving along the eastern US coast for a couple of days. It's off of New Jersey now. The coastal forecast is calling for winds of 25 to 30 and seas of 7 to 10 feet today, moving to gale warnings, winds of 25 to 30 with gusts to 40, and seas of 10 to 14 feet tonight! This is within 20 miles of the New Jersey coast! Wowzers. The current prediction for the Jersey coast for Saturday, when we WILL be transiting above five miles off on the way to Annapolis, is for SW winds 10-15 (right on the nose) and seas of 3 to 4 feet. It will still be a little bumpy, but I wouldn't want to be out in 10-14 foot coastal short period waves!
