Nobodies minding the store?

I'm sure I'm not alone when it comes to contacting the SailNet store and trying to make a purchase. I saw the ad about the remanufactured gps for only $99 and immediately tried to purchase it on-line. Wouldn't go through...nada. So I called the 1 800 number. Got a message machine where I could leave a message and they would get back to me. It was after 5PM but how difficult would it be to have a computerized system and a real answering service that does all this [this is a computer...] A zillion other companies do it. This has happened before and they lost that sale and this one. Its time to fix this....people are saying 'hey!, can I give you some money'.

My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can.

I spend a ton of (the company's) money at my job buying computer equipment. My rhetorical rule is: "If I can't get a response when I have money to give them, what will I get when they have my money and I have a problem?". You'd be surprised at the number of vendors who just don't understand the concept.

I actually ordered one of them this morning...went through without a hitch. It's a good unit, and the bluetooth speakerphone integration with the GPS is very well done. For instance, you can tell it to look up restaurants near you and then if you tap on the name of one, it will give you the option to call it or to show it on the map. Yes, I already own one, and gave one of them to my father for his birthday last year... This one's going into my friend's car, since his wife swiped his Nuvi...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I bought one on-line yesterday, and, except for the fact that I forgot my user name and password, and had to scramble around to find it, it went through fine.

I have had an old one that needed to be replaced, and wouldn't be without one. If I have a street address, I can find my way anywhere in the US, without asking directions, even though I've never been there before.

Got One

I finally got the password on the following day. [It seems that changes with each new purchase...it least for me. The one I had stored wouldn't work.] But it is too good a deal and I was glad it went through!
