A couple of questions:
Why did it take so long for the boat to right itself? Did they have to loosen the sheets because of the wind? And if they did, would having all that water in the sail keep the boat from righting itself?
And in the report it states that they had to move the keel over. Does that mean these boats are designed with a keel that can swing (on its' y-axis) from port to starboard and vice versa?

yes, the kel swings laterally..they had the keel on the good side..when the boat broached gybed, that keel (cantilever keel is its name) was now on the low side...keeping it heeled.

Also the spi went over the head sail, and poped the other way around...then came the boom, and hit the water too....so now they had keel+main+spi+water all on one side.

It only rights itself after they moved the keel to opposite side and cut a few lines around.

Great video Giu.

As for the "BS", citation, either call it like you see it in the BFS thread or quit whining like a girl in other threads. What a chump.

I've been tracking VOR alittle on and off, every day has seemed to be wet, but that is by far the worst yet. Let's just hope this is the worst that happens this VOR, last one lost a man and a boat.

Giu, weren't Ericsson training for a while over in your area?

Ski goggles.... CHECK!
