Giu, don't forget pmor! He's throwin' down for the Eurpies as well, dude!

One question...is this going to be a perpetual cup (like the America's)? If it is, I'll spring for something fairly nice. Otherwise I'm spray painting a Dixie cup silver.

Bottom line is that if it's perpetual (which is my vote) then we keep sending it around the world like a garden gnome.

Thoughts?

Look, I'm a lake sailor too, dude. But it is what it is. It's not like the Midwest has a long and storied line of nautical paragons throughout history that have fascinated the world, right? Okay you got a Gordon Lightfoot song - but c'mon.

So, show 'em if you got 'em. Make a name, brother!
At this rate, you're gettin' nothing from me.

Again I say: MELGES! buy a book, do some reading.
If that isn't enough how about the fact that the Mac just celibrated its 100th anniversary. And that doesn't een scratch the surface. Just because you as a newbie sailor don't know about about doesn't mean it didn't happen, it just proves your ignorance. Besides, I like the Lightfoot song. What the hell do you have? (besides CD...)

Smacky-, why are you here, driving this thread, and well, talking smack?
I sail on a lake - a fairly "small" lake - a pretty sheltered lake. "Pushing it" here is a whole different animal (i.e. - a mouse).
Doesn't sound like you meet the min. requirement. ie...you must be taller than Mickeys nose to get on the ride.
Which "ride" were you talking about exactly? The Landlocked Freakin' Sailor.

Sorry, dude. Other.

citation34 is on a distinguished road
I've gotta agree with T34C (nice boat). Smacker, you are a puddle sailor and the Lakes are not puddles. 'The Lightfoot song' is about a ship almost as large as your mouth going down in extreme circumstances. Yes, and Buddy Melges could teach you a bit.

Holy crap, Citation, that EF was a big ship! And there's no doubt that "The Wizard of Zenda" was definitely a monster (out of Wisconson no less!). He'd be in the running without a doubt. He definitely made a name for himself (and a pretty fast boat apparently). And that's my point.

The puddle/lake comparison? Who cares? It's about the sailing. Pure and simple.

SO, at the end of the day this is purely about BFS, dude. If you got 'em. Throw 'em down. We'll make a new category if there are enough to warrant one (maybe even replace the Gulfies at this point). If you don't - cool. Keep at it like I am. It'll happen someday.

What are you and T doing for Buddy?

That's right, YOU don't meet the min. I hate to break the news to you but there is a great big world out there that you still don't know about. Just because you think your little puddle of a lake isn't note worthy doesn't mean there isn't a lot of real sailing going on at other lakes. You can continue to paddle around your little tea pot if you like, but you don't have to try to take the whole rest of the country down with you.

BTW- I know sailors in Kansas that you could sail with for the next 5 years and still have pleanty to learn from them.
