I'm thinking the three day because the 1 day is only book learning.

Maybe we can get them to do 1 day one week and the 2 day a week or two later to accommodate work schedules.

I would at least take the longer class. I have not taken the Mack Boring class, but have talk to them by phone and received great advice. I did sit in on a short class at the boat show and was very impressed.
I took a week long class at the wooden boat school in Maine. They went over yanmar and other diesel's and I took a two day basic and a two day advanced diesel class with Annapolis school of seamanship. I had more fun in Maine. It was cheaper overall with room and board and driving. Not the high Annapolis hotel and restaurant fees. Plus you get to sail some great wood boats, great views, great people and lots of conversation. Best vacation I ever had.

I would LOVE to do something like this. I don't know of anything similar along the Gulf Coast. I learned by fixing things as they broke and fumbling through it.

If I could, I would join you. NJ is a bit of a hike though!

I would be interested. If we are still in NJ, we have the NJ house up for sale ( I know, ha ha ha good luck) while the boat is at the house in NC. The boat has a 1990 3GM30F series engine and I would be only interested in the 3 day program. It looks like the discount is given for the 3 day no matter how many you have to sign up.

Which date are you thinking about Jan or Mar?

However, $700 is a pretty stiff price and I am wondering if it is really for me. I have done a lot of my own auto engine work in the past (well up until the mid 90's when they really go too complicated). This is my first boat (last May) and first diesel, but I have already changed the oil, impeller and belts. So I am not afraid to jump in with just a manual and helpful input from the folks here. For $700 I could probably add a 2nd Racor filter and buy a bunch of spare parts.

I trained my engine to play dead and only dump it's oil into the bilge.
