Hey, Clear Lake can get rough. Look at the post-Ike pictures. Those were the boats that were safely tied to their docks. (much like CD's)

I will say, any body of water can be a bad ass, if you are not prepared for it.
I arrived in Jervis Bay, NSW yesterday after a 4.5 day sail from Brisbane Qld. On the way south I ran into a stiff southerly the seas were worse than any I encountered on the crossing from SF to Australia. I will add is that I would rather be between 20 north and 20 south any day (got to love that nude sailing). I have sailed in the Great Southern Ocean and it can be sublime one moment and horrendous the next; and this can be said IMHO about any body of water but the degree between each is what excesses the sphincter mussel.
