Gotten any speeding tickets lately? Hydroptere hits 100km/hr

Hydroptère, the French/Swiss trifoiler has been working on setting speed records in training runs that routinely get them up to the mid-40 knot range. Today (21DEC) they saw there was a bit more wind, and went out to see what they could make happen. The video on their site shows them moving right along. After he gets pulled from the water, the skipper, Alain Thébault says they caught a puff and hit 100km/hr (about 61 knots) before crashing. l'Hydroptère

IMpressive, now if they could just stop that nasty capsizing problem. Trimarans rock.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Is it a record if they crashed?
Does the boat have to remain intact and upright for it to count?
That is some crazy azzed sailing.

100 km/hr = 62 mph = 54 knot

That's about 1298 mile per day, if sustained.
