You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I just looked back at my very first post. It was a reply to a post about repairing a cockpit sole core. I was the last post in the thread, so I guess no one disagreed with my method.

The second time I posted did get a reply from Dog. He agreed with me.

I guess I've never been flamed for a post on here. Maybe it had to do with starting out by answering questions that I felt very confident answering. I've only been the OP on a couple of threads, and my first was a solid 3 years after my join date. Maybe it comes from really trying hard to find the answer on my own before I post my ridiculous question.

Some of the questions some people ask have been answered only fifteen or sixteen million times....

I can only go back 500 posts so I cannot bring back my first ones. But I do not recall any sort of negative reaction to my first several postings. I did start the famous solar wind thread that got some heated responses directed to other posters. Whatever happened to conky?

I'll note this: "Ask a stupid question, you'll get a stupid answer".

I don't recall the details, but my first post was probably spectacular and no doubt resulted in resounding applause and general acclaim. Some may have wept.

I wish this was something that Admin could fix. If you're responding to a post that's more than a few months old, a little alert box would be nice. I think this is a mistake we've all made when we first get introduced to message boards. Search then respond is a bad combo. Fortunately I made this mistake on another board that had a newbies only section for us to ask stupid questions, and not get stomped on for dredging up 5 year old posts.
