Seattle Boat Show
Is anyone on here planning to attend the Seattle Boat Show 23 Jan to 1 Feb?
Welcome to the Seattle Boat Show, Indoors + Afloat!
We're heading down on the 28th for three days. I prefer mid-week to avoid the crowds, and to have more one-on-one time with vendors, but by the looks of other US boat shows this season, things may be very quiet.
Usually hotels are tough to book during the show, and they charge full rack, or nearly so. This year, however, this was not the case; a few weeks ago I booked a couple of nights in a my favourite downtown boutique hotel, which is a comfortable walk from the show. I dealt with the hotel directly, and was offered deeply discounted rates, so discounted, in fact that I took a large suite at a price well below their usual standard room rates.
It does not bode well for this year's show that a suite in a deluxe downtown boutique hotel is cheaper this year than my friends paid for a regular room in an out-of-the-way chain hotel last year.
