I'm wondering if Sailboat people evenly represent most employment options or if it attracts people in some jobs more than others.
Of course sailnet members are just a subset of all sailors but it might be interesting.
It does not look like I can edit a poll once started so if I miss your profession, for example I just notice I missed lawyer just put in in a message if you don't mind. Maybe a moderator can add jobs to the pole as they come up.
I know this may be too personal for some. If so I apologize just ignore it.

I'm an Instructional Designer working for the USAF, creating online and computer based training. I have been in the T&D field for a long time and hope that one day I will have enough time of my own to create some great training tools for some fun subject matter!! Like Sailing

Son of a mechanic and have been spinning wrenches for over 50 years for fun, profit and country.

Working on motorcycles for the last 10 years because they seem to have the latest technology, fun to ride and tilt the world like sailing. Naw, at 200mph they are way faster.

Iffin it don't make a least 200hp per liter than it is poop but 400+ with a hair dryer is better.

Baby rattle---4" cresent wrench.

I have lived at the same address for 9 years. For the first couple of years my acquaintance with neighbors was just the causal hello with light conversation. About 4 years ago we had a meet your neighbor party and some friendships turned into regular cookouts.

Now my job requires me to travel 2 to 3 times a month some months and I may be home for 2 to 3 weeks at a time. During my time at home I do yard work, go sailing, pretty much anything but work. This apparently led to my neighbors to gossiping about what I do.

During a cookout last year I discovered that all my neighbors had come to the conclusion I was some kind of international spy. Apparently the gossip led from one conclusion to another until I was this mysterious person.

When they found out I was a business consultant that had clients all over the country and Canada it all made since to them. WE all had a good laugh, although some still think I'm a spy.

You got a love neighborhood gossip.

Unemployed & going broke

For the past 6 years I have worked for the same Automotive Parts Wholesaler. Helping to take them from 4 warehouses east of the mississippi to 20+. To thank me for these years of dedicated service, traveling every-other week and taking on additional duties with the promise of future compasation I was rewarded with an "Involentary Premature Unfunded Retirement" (Laid-Off). Sure glad I spent all those weeks away from my wife & home..!! They were nice enough to pay me to go away, which has allowed me to go sailing here on Tampa Bay 3-4 days a week. Now that the $'s running out I guess I better go find a job....How hard could that be...:laugher

You Lucky Schmuk! Do you know what it is like here in Minnesota in the winter? Too cold to even work on the boat, much less sail. And, being unemployed, I can't afford to go where it's warm. What a horrible time to get laid off! I hope I can get extensions to my unemployment benefits so I can stretch it thru the summer!:D:D
