Yes, I''ve been to the Canaries a number of times. Puerto Mogan, is a lovely place; the marina is first class, designed by yatchsmen for yacthsmen. The whole comound is very pleasing and aesthetic. However,the place is very popular with European cruisers, so make your reservation at the marina before you get there.
The trades as they blow through the Islands must squeeze between the Islands, consequently you have a pressure gradient. They refer to these areas as "Acceleration zones". One must be very carefull when sailing there. Such is the case between Tenerife;Los Cristianos, and Grand Canaria. `If you don''t shorten sail, you will flip. One can see these areas as they show "sea horses". At any rate shorten sail when passing between islands.
When going South, stop at the `Island called GOMERA, trully a lovey Island. They have a charming yatch club carved into the side of the mountain.
