10 deadliest jobs

CNBC has a slide show on their website with the 10 deadliest jobs.

The Deadliest Jobs in America - Slideshows - CNBC.com

*******************
#1 most dangerous: Fishers & Related Fishing Workers
Fatality rate: 111.8
Total deaths: 38

This group is at risk of getting entangled in nets and other gear or getting swept over board. Another problem: Injured workers are far from medical attention.

I believe that doctors who give Colonoscopy’s should be on that list. Ouch!

any maritime job working off shore is dangerous. Far from any kind of help.
slippery decks and ladders (stairs to landlubbers) has tried to kill me several times in rough seas. Have torn both rotator cuffs of the shoulders catching myself on those ladders. Have nearly broken a leg a few times.
And the Snaking (the netting on the lifelines) have kept me from being swepted off the deck and overboard. But aside of those few mishaps it can be a pretty safe envioment as long as you are careful... very very careful.
Oh watch out for the boarding seas

My old profession is number 4 on the list.

Was fun at the time! I just don't bounce as well as I used to anymore.

My guidance councelor in high school told me that my personality profile said that I should be a fisherman or a lumberjack. I think he just didn't like me.
