I am very pleased to announce that you will see considerable changes coming to our site. You will find these changes VERY beneficial for everyone. We anticipate being able to announce many of these changes next week - but we are going to do a lot of things that have never been done before. They will have a very direct benefit to everyone that is passionate about our 'sport'.
We look forward to bringing these things together for you and making the site better than it already is. Again, many of these things have never been done before... to the best of my knowledge, on any site - ever.
I'm very sorry to report that management has quashed CD's proposed "nude sailing" sub-forum. We knew it would be tough convincing them that this sort of "exposure" would "have a very direct benefit to everyone that is passionate about our 'sport'" (they are not as susceptible to marketing hype as we presumed.)
Nor did they view favorably his "All Catalina, All the Time" sub-forum proposal.
I always felt the "Barbecue Channel" concept was a bit weak, and so apparently did they.
So the truth is, we're back at square one. But don't worry, we're busy brainstorming. Trust me when I say CD is a veritable font of ideas. One of them is bound to float.
I have already seen one "considerable change".
I was not on the site for a few days and my rep went up from 3 to 4.
This is new and was never done before in Internet.
The less you participate the higher rep points you get.
Other then that I did not notice any change.
Maybe Sailnet members will get a discount at affiliated marine-related stores. Or we'll earn buying points/credits at the Sailnet store. Just my guess.
I build/design websites for a living but I'm not sure I've seen this done before. If that's not the surprise then, well, it's a nice idea....
Waaaa Hoooooo.....they're giving away free 30 foot Catalina's (dock lines and brick bar-b-que's included) to forum members that have been here more than 3 weeks.
We are getting close. When we tell you about all the changes and the things that are about to happen, you will understand why it has taken a while.
Brian
PS For the member that anonymously asked for something that would make his T34 go faster, I am sorry. We do not deal in fantasy. This is real business, ok??? You should have bought a Catalina!
Doing this toga party thing, while it is fun with CD being gone and all, would not as young as I used to be, so CD dang nabbit, get back here and finish the job! Us old pharts can not quite party hardy like we used ta!
