Brian

Easy to see why dogs are mans best friend.

We had to go through the same thing with our labrador retreiver several years back. I still miss her.

enjoy the memories

I'm an animal person, always have been. The damn things give so much and ask so little.

Brian, you really are a bit special to take the old boy for that one last sail.

Good on you.

Salute

Damn, sorry to hear that. But better that he not suffer, so what you did was the right thing. As Aristotle said:

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

So sorry.

I've done 3 dogs and 2 cats. Not once, was it easy.

But knowing they are out of pain, did make it somewhat easy.

i'm sorry of the loss.

CD, sounds like a tough day. I am surprised at the emotion your post brought up, it has been years since we had to have the same last goodbye for our lab. I am sorry for your loss.
