Don Casey’s “This Old Boat” 2nd edition (2009)

Just got an email from Amazon that this has shipped.

(I’ve had it on order for about 16 months, when I decided it would be worth waiting 3 months for the new edition instead of the previous 1991 edition.)

Sounder—

The new edition has a lot more pages... more than 50% larger in terms of pages... IIRC..

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I've read that everything after the first four chapters is a major rewrite. I have the old edition and plan to get a copy of the new one - lots of changes in equipment, etc. since the first one came out.

I don’t have the 1st edition to compare to, but in his introduction Casey states:

"If you own the original...the first 5 chapters will seem familiar to you, but those you likely don’t need anyway. The stuff you do need has been completley rewritten... original topics extensively updated to reflect changes in technology, boating environment, and in my knowledge.”

1991 to 2008: I imagine there could be some updates!
