St. Michaels 6/5/09 - 6/7/09

We're heading for St Michaels this weekend...rain or shine...(radar needs a good workout anyway) so if you see us, s/v Windgeist give a shout out. We will probably drop hook off Parrott Point. Saturday afternoon will be our first crabs of the season at the Crab Claw...followed by some ice cream in town

PS. Maybe we'll try Queenstown again on the way just for kicks

T37, have a good weekend. Looks like light winds but maybe, if you cross your fingers, NO rain. Just a subtle reminder, do not look at that bright spot in the sky, I heard from an old relative it could be harmful to your eyes...

Great weekend! Friday was rainy, heavy at times, but the winds kept it interesting. On Friday we ended up being one of two boats anchored out. Cool! We warmed up with spicy Jambalaya. Hung out Saturday in town and meet the grandparents for some excellent crabs at the Claw. Sunday morning sail out was a slow one but winds picked up nicely around 11:00 at the mouth of the Chester.

All in all a fabulous weekend with the family!

7 hours Friday - Rock Creek to St. Michaels via Eastern Bay
5.5 hours Sunday - SM to RC via Kent Narrows

Ha..once again we saw you coming out of the Chester on Sunday. We had spent the night at Wharton Creek (one of our favorite spots as we have done it two weekends in a row) in the outside anchorage. Great cool breeze all night and beautiful sunset over the Bay. We tested our dinghy out with a two hour ride to make sure it was operable for our trip up to Mystic.

On Sunday we tacked down the bay (eastern Shore side) as we were leaving our boat at Haven Harbor for the 1500 hr tuneup work on its Yanmar.
Winds were great 14knots on the bow and the bay was calm and made for a great closehauled 3 miles tacks on a cool day. As we rounded the Green 3 at the end of the Swan Bar we saw Windgeist moving out the Chester for a trip across the Bay to Rock Creek.

BTW did you get any of the pictures you took the previous weekend of us.

What sucked was that we had to play car musical chairs to leave the boat in Rock Hall this week and I got caught in that huge 14 mile backup on Friday evening as I left work in DC and wound up getting off at 301 on 50 as it was backed up way past 97. When I took Bennfield I noticed 97 was backed up to there at last. I took College Parkway off of Richie HWY down to sandy Point and got on 50 there. It took me an extra hour but I heard some people were on 50 for 3 hours or more to cross the Bay Bridge. Evidently there was a jumper on the 50 bridge over the Severn.

Wow, that traffic sucks!!!!

Ah, we didn't see ya or I would have tossed you a ice cold brew What a great sail across the bay, a perfect way to end a weekend hey!

Love Worton Creek too, the "outside" anchorage is great on a hot-no wind night, and the creek makes for a long and interesting dingy exploration, did almost all two miles of it with the kids last year, saw a family of Bald Eagles and several Blue Herons, not to mention water snakes and even a deer.

06/07 was a great day to be on the water!!
