First Solo 39' Ketch
As previously reported, I bought a ketch in Fl and sailed her to NY. Part of the reason I wanted a ketch is so I could single hand her. While we stood watches alone on the delivery, most sailhandling was done at least double. I was aboard this afternoon tinkering, decided to sail in the light breeze. Set the mizzen, main, then staysail on the mooring, cast off, motorsailed into the channel. With a fair wind and tide I secured the engine and sailed out of the harbor. A pleasant sail followed under cloudy skies. Later, off the wind, I unfurled the jib and struck the stays'l. Picked up the mooring on the first try. Now I just need to do the same in every possible weather condition.
