Question on SAT C system

Dear all,

I am buying a boat in the US. Cheaper than Europe. Will sail it solo around the world.

I need a Sat C system. It gets me NavTex and other stuff which is good. I know a pactor on an HF is good, and I have that already (is on the second hand boat I am buying) but prefer to double up on the coms side, just for backup. Saving my money by using good old fashing paper charts!

Has anyone installed a Sat C on a US vessel? Is there anything I have to watch out for with respect to MMSI and other stuff? Finally which system do you recommend?

Regards
JP
